What matters to me in 2009 is that the budgets do not get cut for Case Workers to do their job in helping children. What matters to me is the thousands of lives that are saved from abuse, by these same caseworkers. I want children to also know they have support and they are not alone. And most of all I want these children to heal and to thrive.

What matters to me? Taking action and being part of the change that I want to see in the world. I’m excited about the steps uFOSTERsuccess is taking to provide an increased level of service and resources to youth in foster care and I’m hopeful that those plans and programs will become a reality very soon. I’m also excited about another organization that I’ve become aware of recently, The Mockingbird Society, and their achievement of advocating for and ensuring that essential foster care related programs in Washington were supported and funded despite billions of dollars in budget cuts. This truly shows the power that we can have in making a difference. Also, I’m excited about the actions I’m taking to start my own ‘Social Business Enterprise’ that will provide support and resources to other foster care related organizations and to youth and alumni of the foster care system.
