UFOSTERSUCCESS is a 501c3 nonprofit organization which
has four founding board of directors who are former foster youth. Each
director has a unique story and perspective to offer. Below you will
find our short bios as well as some of our members giving you an idea
of our background in foster care.
If you would like any of our members to participate in an activity that would help the individuals who work or live in the foster care then please email a message to Barbara describing how you would like us to participate.

Al- Age 13
Top 10 Advice for Foster Parents:
- Don't rush a new foster child into talking about themselves and their past.
- Listen to them and understand their feelings. They are very scared and not sure of what is going to happen.
- Include them and treat them as members of your family.
- Accept their feelings and help them work through them.
- Let them know that you really care about them.
- Respect their birth families. Don't talk bad about their parents.
- Foster children don't have much say in what happens to them. Show them enough respect to tell them about what is going on in their case.
- Give them as many chances to make choices as you can.
- Help them to get a good self-esteem. Many foster kids have been told that they are worthless.
- My last piece of advice is when things get hard, when they have enough of having to work so hard to learn a new way of life and they keep making mistakes, tell your kids what my new mom is always telling me:
"Never Give Up! My Kids are not quitters and you are my kid so you are not a quitter! Never give up"
